University Concert Series 2014-2015 season in Columbia

The initial schedule of performers for the 2014-2015 season of the University Concert Series is out and there are some very special events that are coming up.

The season looks to kick off on August 15th with one of country music's legendary bands the Ozark Mountain Daredevils comes to the Missouri Theatre.  Rosario Andino (classical pianist) will perform on September 16th and Willie Nelson and Friends will be at the theatre on October 12th.

The Golden Dragon Acrobats return to the concert series this year on October 29th or you can come and spend An Evening with Terry Bradshaw on November 19th.

To start of the 2014 holiday season, you may want to see a new show this year that will bring ice (yes, real ice) to the Missouri Theatre stage with the Holiday Ice Spectacular on December 1st and you wont want to miss the annual performance of Nebraska Theatre Caravan's: A Christmas Carol on December 10th.

This year you can also go back to the films of yester-year as the University Concert Series presents something new in it's line up- Feature Film's on the big screen of the theatre.
Some of this seasons highlights will be The Wizard of Oz shown on August 25th (marking the 75th Anniversary of it's release on August 25th, 1939); Camelot will be shown September 28th; The Music Man on October 27th and Meet Me in St. Louis on December 14th.

Come to Hermann Wine Trail Berries & BBQ weekend event

Make plans to be in mid-Missouri July 26th and 27th for the 2014 Berries & BBQ event along Hermann Missouri's Wine Trail.

This annual event has seven stops at local family owned wineries where participants sample luscious berries, some mouth watering BBQ and paired wines.

The memories begin on Saturday at 10am and concludes Sunday at 5pm.  Tickets are $30 per adult and must be purchased in advance.

A Capital Celebration, 2014 Salute to America, July 4th

This 2 day event has 5 concert stages, carnival, beer garden, food court, sand sculpture, classic car show, hot dog eating contest, Corn Toss tournament and so much more you just have to come to see it all.

Plus there are tours of the Missouri State Penitentiary, Historical Society and State Capitol building and at dusk on July 4th, the skies become illuminated with a wonderful fireworks show.

Blind Boone Ragtime and early Jazz Festival, June 8-10

Performances begin on Sunday June 8th at 2pm and continue at various times with a culmination of the final performance on Tuesday June 10th at 7:30pm.

Single concert tickets are $30 in advance or $33 at the door.  Ragtime Bash event tickets are $50 in advance or $53 at the door.

Historic Route 66 Summerfest, Rolla Missouri May 30-31

Come out to Rolla Missouri on May 30th and 31st for the 20th annual event where there is a classic car cruise, a ladies competition for "Miss Route 66" and "Miss Summerfest", Poker Run, Skateboarding, food, music and fun in the sun!

Shelbyfest All Mustang Rally in Hermann, April 25-26

Classic silver Shelby and a classic white Shelby. Racing strips and a sunny day.The 2014 Shelbyfest rumbles into Hermann Missouri the weekend of April 25th-26th 2014.  This all mustang rally is a growing favorite in the historic German town and is open for all.

The weekend get started with the Shelby Golf Classic followed by a Cruise through the Country, weather permitting, and concludes the first day with a welcome reception at the Wine Valley Inn.

Then on Saturday the 26th, the show begins at 9am with Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts mingling along the streets checking out the beautiful cars on display, meeting with vendors and reconnecting with friends.

A favorite of the festival, A Moment of Horsepower, will be at 12pm when all the Shelby owners pay tribute to those that have passed on.

A banquet brings the day to a close at 5pm at the Eagles Lodge.  Full bar available and seating is limited with preregistration a must.

University of Missouri Tigers Spring football game, April 19th 2014, M-I-Z!

Come out to Columbia Missouri for the annual Spring Game and support the Tigers as they begin their 2014 Season with new faces on the field in their first public scrimmage.

The Mizzou Tigers finished off a great 2013 season with their win in the 2014 Cotton Bowl earlier this year and Tiger fans everywhere hope to see that momentum carry them into another great season in 2014.

A one day celebration of Beer! The Missouri Beer Festival on March 22 2014 at the Holiday Inn Expo-Columbia in Columbia Missouri.

This year see's the festival at a new location but much of the rest will be the same such as lots of fun, food and great beers.

Attendee's must be 21 and over to consume, but minors are allowed.  Please drink responsible and have a designated driver.

Stone Hill Winery Tour of Hermann Gravel Challenge, April 5-6 2014

bicyclist riding on gravel road near Hermann MissouriStone Hill Winery Tour of Hermann Gravel Challenge, April 5-6 2014 is a combined 190 mile cycling event that will take you through area in and around Hermann Missouri.

The adventure begins on Saturday April 5th at 9AM when a mass of riders begin the first of 3 loop rides that are 30 miles each.

The following day, riders will step it up a bit more with two loop rides that are 50 miles each.

Loop 1 will take riders north of town across the Missouri River, Loops 2 & 3 will have riders covering the southern part of the area.

Loop 4 will send riders back over the Missouri River and then west bound while Loop 5 takes you back south of town.

University of Missouri Extension presents Master Gardeners Spring Seminar

University of Missouri Extension presents Master Gardeners Spring Garden Seminar on February 22nd 2014 from 9am - 4pm.  Registration for the seminar closes on February 1st.

Come to the Lincoln University's Carver Farm in Jefferson City Missouri where classes will be offered all day, a total of 18 in all, and attendees can choose from 6 of them where you will hear and learn from experts in the field.

The cost of this event is $25 and classes are filling up fast.  As mentioned, the deadline for submitting your registration is Saturday, February 1st.

Missouri S&T students celebrate annual St. Pat's Celebration

Missouri S&T celebrates the 106th annual St. Pat's Grand Ball on Saturday March 8th, 2014 with a cash bar at 5:30pm.  Dinner will be served at 7:30pm.

The St. Pat's Grand Ball is about honoring a Rolla Missouri tradition with dinner and dancing on the Missouri S&T campus.  This event is open to the public and the cost is $45 per person.  Tickets can be purchased at coterie.mst.edu

29th Annual Taste of Mid-Missouri, March 10th 2014, Columbia

Columbia/Mid-Missouri Restaurant Association presents the 29th Annual Taste of Mid-Missouri, March 10th 2014 at the elegant University Club in Columbia Missouri.

Come with your spouse, friends or by yourself and enjoy savory samples from over 30 area restaurants and a selection of delicious beverages from local distributors.

The cost is $20 in advance per person or $25 at the door.  The funds raised from this annual extravaganza benefit the Columbia/Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association Educational, Legislative and Scholarship programs and helps to fund students in the Hospitality & Restaurant Management program over at the University of Missouri.

Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks 2014 Mardi Gras Pub Crawl

Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks 2014 Mardi Gras Pub Crawl is the Lake's biggest winter event that you don't want to miss out on.

Come to the Lake on Saturday February 15th starting at 4:00pm and for $10 event fee you can go to over 20 bars and restaurants in the comfort of a bus as it takes you along the crawl safely.
